Supporting Carers And Families Together

SCAFT supports unpaid carers within Rochford District, specialising in innovative services for young carers (aged 6-18). We provide evening respite groups for young carers to take a break from their caring responsiblities in a safe environment with others in similar circumstances, individual support through the districts schools, and a ground breaking Young Carers Passport Scheme in the local secondary schools. We are happy to accept referrals from anyone with concerns about a child or young person with a caring role in their household/family.

We are currently specialising in innovative services for young carers.

We are able to provide evening respite youth groups, to give the young carer a break in a safe space with others in similar circumstances, where they can be themselves and take part in a wide range of arts, crafts, sports, games and other activities; as well as have someone to talk to if they want to. We also provide indivudal support through our One2One scheme which operates in many of the district primary schools and all four of the district secondary schools. This service can be accessed either via direct referral to us or have a chat with the Young Carers/SEND Lead in your child's school.

Our Young Carers Passport scheme started as a creative solution to many young carers difficulties with conflicts between their caring role and their educational life and has been a huge success in many of the districts secondary schools; so much so that we are currently working with other organsations across the country to set up similar schemes. Again this service can be accessed by having a chat with the Young Carers Lead in your childs school.
