Yellow Door: Canvey Island Youth Project
Yellow Door: Canvey Island Youth Project, is a local charity and youth hub based in South East Essex. If you are between 11 and 25 we offer a range of informal and confidential services and activities focusing on young people’s health and wellbeing. This includes our advice, information and support, counselling, mentoring, small groups, clubs, activities and detached youth work, and more. We aim to help young people achieve their full potential in education, employment, family life and society.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Services - We offer a range of services to 11–25-year-olds who are struggling with confidence, self-esteem, behaviour or social skills. These sessions are delivered in a safe, informal setting that help the young person to feel at ease and include:
- Counselling - We offer weekly sessions where you can talk to your counsellor about what is on your mind.
- Mentoring - Tailored 1-to-1 support which can include CV writing and helping to look for employment.
- Social Skills - Small groups of 2-4 aimed at reducing feelings of isolation and building confidence.
- The Hope Box Project. Our 6 week course for 11-13 or 14-16 year olds help identify sources of anxiety and worry.
- Advice, Information and Support - Covering homelessness, benefits, finding work, and substance misuse.
- eC-Cards
- Job Club - A six week course to find what you would like to do, write or improve your CV, apply for jobs and practice interview skills.
Youth Groups and Activities - For young people between 11 and 18 yrs and include:
- Youth club - you can enjoy sport, arts and craft, games plus pool table, foosball, and PlayStation
- Sports club - including basketball, football, tennis, etc plus chance to play pool, table tennis
- QT youth club - Youth Club for ‘quieter’ young people- Invitation only.
- 'Next Level' performing arts group - Learn to sing, dance and act whilst you have fun and develop your confidence
- Young volunteers
- Various outreach activities in Benfleet, Waterside skatepark and 1st Avenue.

Who can use this service?
Any young person aged 11 to 25.
Clubs and activities age range varies but usually 11 to 18 years.
How are services delivered?
Mostly face-to-face, but counselling and mentoring can take place over the phone and online.
